What is the Best Way to Quit Smoking?

If you are a smoker you have probably asked this question yourself.   Other than going cold turkey is there any  products that actually help you quit smoking cigarettes?   This is a question I have been researching recently.  More and more places of business are becoming smoke Quit Smoking Productsfree.  Some places are actually firing employees for smoking.   Recently one of our local hospitals made an announcement to their employees that they could not smoke in the parking lot or in their cars.  And they could not come to work smelling like smoke.  So what can you do if you are in this situation?

Of course, it’s a no brainer that you should quit smoking.  But I realize that is easier said than done.  There are books and products that claim to make quitting easier.  In the next few months I will be researching different ways to quit smoking.  The first on my list is the electronic cigarette or e-cigarette.

Electronic Cigarette

The Electronic Cigarette  is a device that looks like a cigarette but is battery-operated.    It produces a nicotine vapor to satisfy the  smoker’s cravings and has been called a vapor electronic cigarette.   The Electronic Cigarette turns a liquid nicotine into a vapor which you inhale.   It even has a puff like smoke.  This sounds great but the problem is there have not been many tests to see what long-term effects this may have on smokers.   When they first were put on the market the FDA  analyzed two popular brands of Electronic Cigarettes and found traces of toxic chemicals, including known carcinogens.   Since then some other studies were made which show the e-cigarette may not be any worse than nicotine patches.  In 2008 a study in New Zealand concluded the carcinogens and toxins  present in the Electronic Cigarette were  below harmful levels.  In 2010 a study at Boston University concluded that Electronic Cigarettes were much safer than real cigarettes and could help someone stop smoking.

Before you try the Electronic Cigarette I suggest you research this for yourself.  A good place to start is to read about the Electronic Cigarette on Wikipedia.  Also, always talk to your doctor before trying anything new.  I know the next question is where to buy an electronic cigarette so  I searched to see who sells the e-cigarette and I found the following:

Green Smoke E-Cigarette

Luci Electronic Cigarette
